EMP/EMI Protection
The Department of Defense’s renewed focus on protecting its critical systems from the effects of electromagnetic interferences prompted a renewed interest in EMP, HEMP and EMI threats to sensitive electronic and power systems across all industry sectors. EMP (Electromagnetic Pulse), HEMP (High Altitude Electromagnetic Pulse) and EMI (Electromagnetic Interference) are all part of the so called Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3), which can cause reduced operability or even complete system failures.
The Protection Technology Group’s unique expertise in advanced surge and filter protection technologies enables us to provide comprehensive E3 hardening solutions ranging from commercial-of-the-self products (COTS) to custom OEM designs. For over 10 years top defense contractors have relied on our knowledge and design experience to meet the requirements set by military standards.
In cooperation with the Defense Threat Reduction Agency and military prime contractors, the Protection Technology Group is working to ensure mission critical electronics are protected from all threats, following the mandate of MIL-STD-188-125. This standard establishes minimum performance and testing requirements for high-altitude electromagnetic pulse (HEMP) hardening of fixed and transportable ground based facilities which perform mission critical C4ISR (Command, Control, Communications, Computer, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance).
